Interior Systems and Components of a Home
Evaluating The Condition of a Homes Interior involves the inspection of systems and components used within a room to make the room what it is. Our home inspectors' concern is function rather than aesthetics. Emphasis is placed on whether a room and the components within a room, work as intended for that room.
The interior of a room should contain safe and properly operating points of distribution for the major mechanical systems of the home (e.g. Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC systems). Each room should have a sufficient number of electrical outlets and have an adequate heat source. A bathroom, kitchen or laundry area should have ample hot and cold water supply with effective drainage. While each room (other than closets) will or should contain components of the major systems, condition of interior components can provide clues to structural issues and is often where leaks can first be detected.
Interior Components Evaluated During Your Home Inspection
- Floors, Walls and Ceilings
- Windows and Doors
- Cabinets and Counter Tops
- Steps, Stairways, Balconies and Railings
The Condition of Interior Finishes usually reflects the overall condition of a home and is an excellent indication as to the degree of maintenance provided to the property. Proper installation of materials used, proper functioning of doors and windows, signs of leaks, water penetration or hidden water damage, signs of structural defects, signs of pest infestation, possible mold growth and safety issues are all addressed at the time of your inspection.
Your home inspector will go through every room and accessible area making notes of any relevant defects or substandard repairs. Our twenty eight years of new home construction and residential remodeling experience will assure that you are on the path to obtaining full disclosure on the real estate investment that you venture to call home.
